Finding health care in the United States is an individual undertaking. Below we offer some starting points. These resources range from a well known annual ranking of America’s best hospitals and health centers to some general guides to health care.

The US News is a national American magazine that publishes an annual review of America’s best hospitals. Below is a list of the 18 best for 2007. AHA Guide to the Health Care Field, 2008

- This book is a major source book on American health care. It features an annual directory of hospitals, health care systems, networks, ambulatory surgery centers as well as important information on ownership, accreditation approvals and more. The book is expensive to purchase (over $300 US), so you might want to read it at your local library.

Health Care Abroad

One of the best and most recent sources of information on accessing health care abroad is a book called "Patients Beyond Borders: Everybody’s Guide to Affordable, World-Class Medical Tourism" by Josef Woodman (Available at www.amazon.ca). This book describes all medical tourism destinations. Written for an American audience, this guide is no less informative for Canadians. Some key points are:
